Your complete guide to the Maternity Photo Session
How to Prepare for Your Maternity Photo Session: Tips for a Perfect Shoot
Capturing the beauty of pregnancy is a wonderful experience, and preparing for your maternity photoshoot can make all the difference. Here are some essential steps to ensure you feel confident, comfortable, and radiant on the day of your session.
1. Choose the Right Time
The ideal time for a maternity photoshoot is between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. During this period, your baby bump is beautifully rounded, and you are still comfortable enough to move around easily.
2. Select Your Outfit
Our studio has a wide variety of maternity dresses available, which you can explore in the dress gallery below. However, if you’d like to add a personal touch to your session, you are welcome to bring one extra outfit of your choice. Please bring skin-toned underwear (with or without straps), which will seamlessly complement the dresses you select. Bringing a few colour variations will help ensure the perfect match.
3. Outfits for Your Family
If you are bringing your partner or children to the session, please ensure they wear elegant outfits that complement the style of the dresses we provide at the studio.
A white or black shirt/outfit is a great choice, as it effortlessly complements the dresses chosen from our studio.
For both adults and children, clean, classic footwear is preferable, you’re welcome to bring multiple options, and we’ll find the perfect match during the session.
4. Pamper Yourself
A little self-care before your photoshoot can help you feel extra confident:
- Get a good night’s sleep to feel refreshed and energized.
- Consider light makeup and hairstyling for a polished yet natural look.
- Give yourself the treat of a perfect manicure and pedicure.
5. Bring Essential Accessories
Adding personal touches can make your maternity session even more meaningful:
- Ultrasound photos, baby shoes, or a special piece of jewellery can add sentimental value.
- A flower crown or a stylish hat can enhance your look or anything you like to have incorporated into the session.

What will the photo session be like?
Duration of the photo session
The photo session lasts approximately 1-2 hours, depending on the package chosen.
Edited Photos
The number of photos you receive depends on the package you choose or how many extra photos you buy and will be delivered in jpeg format via an online link within 20 working days from the selection made. The photo will be edited as it is shown on the website. If you wish to receive your photos within 72 hours of selection, a fee of £99 will be charged.
Extra photos
If you want more photos, you can upgrade to a higher package or buy additional digital photos at £15 each. If you want to buy the whole unedited gallery, it costs £300 and can only be purchased after you have bought a package.
After the photo session
After the photo session, I will send you an online gallery within 1-4 days. The photos in the gallery will be unedited, and you can select your favourites based on your package. These unedited photos will not be downloadable and will have a transparent logo on them. Once you’ve made your selection, I will edit the chosen photos and send you the final, high-quality images.
Editing
The processing of the photos consists of post-processing, which includes corrections to tone, exposure, contrast, brightness, saturation, and cropping in my opinion. I will retouch the photos as I deem necessary and as a characteristic of my style. Client requests such as makeup/hair mistakes, change of background/outfit and thinning, are not included and can be done separately for a fee.
